Are you one of those people who love to potter around in the garden getting soil under their nails? Do you like to sit down to a meal of fresh salad greens knowing that you have a healthy organic vegetable garden? You are obviously a dedicated gardener who’s always looking out for gardening tips.
Tip 1: The best way to store seeds for a long time – You can store cabbage, radish, broccoli, tomato and sunflower seeds for up to almost five years if you store them in an airtight container with a packet of silica gel and place them in a refrigerator. Carrots, peas and pumpkin can be kept for up to three years. Avoid storing corn, onion, spinach and parsnip seeds for more than a year.
Tip 2: Make your rose’s bloom – A wonderful way to feed your roses is to increase the potassium levels in the soil. Place some banana peels under the soil around the base of your rose bush. The banana peels will eventually disintegrate and mix with the soil, providing nutritious potassium to your roses.
Tip 3: The ideal time to plant your bulbs – Since planting really depends on climatic factors, the easiest way to gauge the right time is if they flower in spring, plant them in the fall or late summer. If they flower in the fall or summer, plant them in the spring.
